May 30 Meet at SVHS
SV Sea Dragons,
Our first swim meet is only a few days away - Please read the info below carefully to be prepared for the meet!
Time - Please plan to be at SVHS by 7:15 or earlier if you volunteered for the set up crew. The meet starts at 9:00 and we warm up at 7:45. The north gate off of Smithson Valley Road is the only one open on the weekends. We should be done by 1:30.
Volunteers - I will send a separate email to those who volunteered for this meet. Please let me know ASAP if you can't fill your volunteer slot!!
Check in - Our team will set up on the tennis courts next to the pool, so please send the swimmers there to check in and sit with their age groups. This is VERY important so that Coach Kari knows who is present and can make any relay changes if needed. I will give Coach Kari the check in list after our team warms up, so if your swimmer is not checked in by then, they will be pulled from any relays.
Seating - After you check in, we will direct your swimmer to sit with their age group in a designated area on the tennis courts. Families can set up chairs outside the fence between the pool and the school either upstairs or downstairs. We will reserve the space inside the fence around the pool for swimmers, officials, and volunteers. There are limited viewing areas around the pool, so we will have space by the fence and the upstairs railing marked off for walkways and for parents to watch their swimmers race. Please do not move the ropes.
Events - The coaches will determine which events your swimmers will swim based on their ability. We will send out the heat sheet on Friday - the heat sheet is a list of every event including which heat and lane is assigned to each swimmer. We will not have heat sheets for sale at the meet, so if you want one, please print it out and bring it with you. You can write events on your swimmer's arm prior to the meet. If you are not sure how to do this, there will be check in volunteers with each group to help swimmers write their events on their arms. We write the events with sharpie so that the swimmer knows when they will swim and so that the volunteers can help the swimmers get to the right place at the right time. Don't worry - it will wash off!! We will also write your swimmer's first name on their back so that the volunteers know who is who!
Parking - We will have the spaces by the pool house blocked off for those who are bringing in equipment for the meet and concessions, so please park in the parking lot. Please do not park between the tennis courts and the football stadium. The restrooms at the football stadium are the only ones we have, so there will be kids going back and forth across the parking lot.
What to bring - This will be the first swim meet for many of you, so expect loosely organized chaos! Bring 2-3 towels, goggles, team t-shirt, team swim cap, sharpie permanent marker, chairs for parents, pop up tents for shade, and cash for concessions. Please write your swimmer's name on their t-shirt and on their swim caps to help us find owners of lost items!!! We will need shade for the team area as well, so if you can let the team use your pop up shade, we would appreciate it!
Please remember that we are guests of SVHS and Comal ISD, and we are the host team, so please be good hosts!
Go Sea Dragons!
Thanks,
Sharon
