Practice Starts MONDAY!!!
Smithson Valley Sea Dragons,
The 2016 season is almost here! We are ready to get the team going and are glad that you are part of it. We have over 100 swimmers with many returning from last year as well as several who are new to the sport of swimming. We have three outstanding coaches who will be coaching our swimmers this season. Coach Preston is returning this year as our head coach, along with Coaches Christina and Addison.
Practice Schedule - Our practice schedule is attached and is also posted on our team website. Practice starts on May 1. Your swimmers will compete at their age on June 1, 2016, so please plan to attend that practice group unless you have discussed a change with me or Coach Preston. We ask that your swimmers attend at least 2 practices/week, but they are welcome to attend all practices for their age group. The SV pool is back up and running after some major repairs, but the heater is still not working, so be aware that the water may be a bit chilly next week.
Don't forget to bring goggles, a towel, and a swim cap if you have one! There is no place for parents to sit around the pool, so make sure to bring a chair.
Team Suits - Team suits are not required for practice, but they are required for swim meets so your swimmers will need one by May 27. Our team suits are sold by D&J Sports, and they will be at practice to sell suits and other swim equipment on May 13 or you can get them any time at their store at 6413 Blanco Rd near North Star Mall. Just tell them you are on the Smithson Valley Sea Dragons team and they will be able to help you.
Website - We will use the team website to communicate with you throughout the season. You can login to the website using the email address you used to register for the team. If you have not already changed it during registration, the initial password is seadragons - you will be prompted to change your password the first time you log in. Once you are logged in, there is a drop down menu in the upper right corner that says Actions. The Parent Page lets you update your profile where you can add or change email addresses, update your swimmer profile, and check on volunteer assignments. You will see an RSVP section where you can indicate which meets you can attend. Please go ahead and complete that section with either yes or no for each swim meet. You will be able to make changes if needed, and Coach Preston or I will give you a final day to make changes for each meet.
Help Needed! - We lost many of our stroke & turn judges, so we need some more! It only takes a 2 hour training course and working with our current outstanding judges to learn how to do it. Please let me know if you're interested! Also, we are looking for someone to head-up our concession stand. This is only for our home meets, and volunteers will help you on the days of the meets, but we need someone to be in charge of shopping, setting up, taking down, etc. Thank you in advance for all of your help!
