    MEET #1 INFORMATION- PLEASE READ!

    SV Sea Dragons,

Our first swim meet is only a few days away - Please read the info below AND THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT carefully to be prepared for the meet!

Time - Please plan to be at SVHS by 7:15.  The meet starts at 9:00 and we warm up at 7:45.  The north gate off of Smithson Valley Road is the only one open on the weekends. The main gate off of Hwy 46 will be locked. We should be done by 1:30.

Volunteers - Volunteers for this meet should have already received an email about the position they are supposed to fill.  We still need a bench starter(2nd half), head timer, and concessions, so please let me know if you can fill any of these positions!!

Check in - Our team will set up in the parking lot between the tennis courts and the football stadium, so please send the swimmers there to check in and sit with their age groups.  Mrs. Carmichael will be the person you are checking in with. This is VERY important so that Coach Preston knows who is present and can make any relay changes if needed.  I will give Coach Preston the check in list after our team warms up, so if your swimmer is not checked in by then, they will be pulled from any relays.

Seating - After you check in, we will direct your swimmer to sit with their age group in a designated area with the team.  Families can set up chairs outside the fence between the pool and the school either upstairs or downstairs.  We will reserve the space inside the fence around the pool for swimmers, officials, and volunteers.  There are limited viewing areas around the pool, so we will have space by the fence and the upstairs railing marked off for walkways and for parents to watch their swimmers race.  Please do not move the ropes.

Concessions- Concessions will be available beneath the awning by the pool parking lot. Please remember to bring smaller bills for concessions. We will also have a Kona Ice truck available starting at 10:00 until the end of the meet. Thank you for supporting our concessions program.

Events - The coaches will determine which events your swimmers will swim based on their ability.  We will send out the heat sheet on Friday - the heat sheet is a list of every event including which heat and lane is assigned to each swimmer.  We will not have heat sheets for sale at the meet, so if you want one, please print it out and bring it with you.  You can write events on your swimmer's arm prior to the meet.  If you are not sure how to do this, please see the attached document "preparing for a meet" for instructions. It saves time and stress to do this the night before the meet if possible. There will also be check in volunteers with each group to help swimmers write their events on their arms.  We write the events with sharpie so that the swimmer knows when they will swim and so that the volunteers can help the swimmers get to the right place at the right time.  Don't worry - it will wash off!!  Please also write your swimmer's first name on their back so that the volunteers know who is who!

Parking - The parking lot between the pool and the football stadium will be blocked to allow both teams space to set up.  There is plenty of parking in front of the school.

Restrooms - Due to construction, we will be using the VISITOR side restrooms, located by the end zone of the football field. A gate will be unlocked beneath the home bleachers to allow people to have a more direct route to the restroom. PARENTS, PLEASE BE SURE TO ESCORT YOUR CHILDREN TO THE RESTROOMS AT ALL TIMES, AND LET SOMEONE KNOW IF YOUR SWIMMER IS GOING IN CASE WE ARE LOOKING FOR THEM TO LINE UP. There can be no playing on or around the football field area, as it is strictly open for access to the restrooms. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

What to bring - This will be the first swim meet for many of you, so expect loosely organized chaos!  Please see the attachment for what to bring so that you are prepared.   We will need shade for the team area as well, so if you can let the team use your pop up shade, we would appreciate it!

Please remember that we are guests of SVHS and Comal ISD, and we are the host team, so please be good hosts!

    Go Sea Dragons!

    Thanks,

    Sandie Schneider
