Meet #2 vs. Whispering Oaks TOMORROW
Good afternoon, Sea Dragons!
Our second meet of the season is tomorrow, Monday, June 5, against Whispering Oaks swim team. I have not received the heat sheet yet, but as soon as I do I will send it via email along with the entry lists. I wanted to get the meet information out, however, so that your family can plan and prep for our first AWAY meet.
The address to the pool is 11219 Whisper Valley, San Antonio 78230. Warm-ups for our team are from 5:15-5:45, and the meet starts at 6:00. This is different than what it says on the website. Please plan to arrive in time to park, check in, and be ready to warm up right at 5:15.
PARKING: Parking is tight, but available around the pool area and neighboring streets. Please ensure that you do NOT park in the "no parking" areas along Whisper Valley, as ticketing and towing is enforced. Please also do not block any residence driveways. The residents support the swim teams, but do not want to get stuck. :)
Seating: Parents can set up wherever they would like to, according to the home team. There are a lot of trees that provide ample shade, but you should bring chairs for sitting. There are also some benches along the pool side as well. You are welcome to bring tents for extra shade, although the home team says that visiting teams get all the shade so it is not necessary.
Heat Sheets: Heat sheets will NOT be available for sale at the meet, so please be sure to print these out prior to arrival at the meet. We recommend that you mark your child's arm ahead of time as well to help make the check in process smooth.
Check-In: When you arrive, please check in at our team area with Rebekah Seachrist. If you can, mark your child's arm with their events prior to arrival. If you are not sure how to do this, check out the attached document, Preparing for a Meet. There will also be two check-in volunteers that can help you.
Officials: IF YOU ARE A STROKE AND TURN JUDGE, WE ARE COUNTING ON YOU TO ATTEND AND OFFICIATE! Without officials, we cannot run a smooth meet and both team are required to provide their share. Please dress accordingly and plan to arrive early for the officials meeting.
Concessions: A concession stand will be available with a variety of drink options, snacks, and food including pizza, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, candies and some new hot food items as well. Kona Ice will also be on-sight for purchasing sno-cones. Credit cards are NOT accepted, so please be sure to bring cash for concessions.
Event Entries: IF FOR ANY REASON WE NEED TO MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR SWIMMER'S EVENTS DUE TO ABSENCE, PLEASE LET US KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IF YOUR CHILD IS ENTERED IN A RELAY, WE ARE COUNTING ON THEM TO BE PRESENT!!!! Last week at our home meet we had some families leave early without letting a coach know. This resulted in some very sad teammates when we had to scratch relays at the last minute and people could not swim. Please remember that relays help our team in competition with points, and also are one of the most exciting parts of a meet for our swimmers. If we are counting on you and your child does not swim, you are letting the team down. Please be sure to tell Coach Preston face to face if there is a reason your child cannot stay for a relay.
We have not had the opportunity to swim against this team before, but we are looking forward to a great meet and improvements from meet #1. Most of all, we want everything to run smoothly and for our swimmers to HAVE FUN!!! I will send out the heat sheet as soon as I receive it. Please contact me with any questions that you may have!
Go Sea Dragons!
