CHAMPS MEET INFO- READ CAREFULLY!
Good morning, Sea Dragons Parents!
Champs is TOMORROW!! I'm sorry I did not get this info out yesterday, but I'm also glad I didn't send it, as there were a few things that changed this morning. :)
I want to start by saying that you need to read all of this info very carefully and you need to follow all directions precisely and with respect. As a swim parent of many years, I can confirm that all of the rules imposed (which you are about to read) by NEISD are NOT new and are very common for ALL EVENTS at this pool. However, for those that are not club swim or high school swim parents that frequent this facility, the rules seem very strict. Please PLEASE follow them and trust the coaches and volunteers to take great care of your swimmers. We still have some volunteer spots to fill, so if you are nervous or worried, volunteer so that you can get a wristband to be on deck! All you need to have a GREAT MEET is below!
Prep the night before (TONIGHT):
Use the heat sheet and/or athlete check in to mark your child with their events on their arm and write their name on their back.
Pack a small bag or backpack for your child to carry inside to the pool. It should have a towel, goggles, Sea Dragons cap, snacks and water. Put cap and goggles on top where they can be easily found by swimmer. Parents are not allowed on deck and swimmers are not allowed in the spectator area with their parents!
Arrival:
It will be an early morning! Please plan to arrive and check in no later than 6:45. SEE THE ATTACHED SCREENSHOT FOR OUR MEET UP SPOT. All athletes will check in as usual and then STAY WITH the COACHES. Our coaches will hold all swimmers, along with our volunteers, until we enter as a team at 7:00. DO NOT BE LATE! ALL SWIMMERS AND VOLUNTEERS MUST CHECK IN!!!
Entry to Facility:
At 7:00, swimmers, coaches, and volunteers with tags & wristbands will enter the facility. We will enter as a team at this time, and if you are late, you will miss it. Swimmers should come to the pool already dressed READY TO SWIM! Coaches and volunteers will escort them in, they will quickly find a seat in our designated area, set down their bags and get ready to head over to the warmup pool. Again, parents are not allowed on deck or in the warm-up pool area.
Spectators/Parents:
Only swimmers, coaches, and wrist-banded volunteers are allowed on deck! Swimmers will sit with the team in our assigned area on deck. Families, spectators and parents will sit upstairs in the spectator area. Spectators will enter in the door on the RIGHT (looking at the facility) starting at 7:15. Spectators will be "wanded down,"
CLEAR BAGS ONLY (this does not apply to swimmers, only spectators).
No weapons allowed. Gentlemen, remember to leave pocket knives in the car! (Maybe that has happened multiple times to the men in our family)
Only ONE clear, lidded water bottle can be brought in. No yeti's, Stanley's, tumblers, etc. No outside food is allowed.
No tents, chairs, wagons, etc can be brought in to the facility. Swimmers will sit with the team on the pool deck in our assigned bleacher section and parents will sit upstairs in the spectator sections.
MSSL FOOD TRUCKS: The MSSL has contracted with 2 food trucks for the meets. Each truck returns 10% of sales to the league. Food trucks attending: ROOSTERS (focused on chicken dishes) and DADDY O’S COCINA (taco truck). Trucks accept credit cards and CASH & maybe more IMPORTANT NEISD FOOD RULES: ALL FOOD MUST BE EATEN OUTSIDE THE NATATORIUM. ONE BOTTLED WATER PER SPECTATOR IN ITS CLEAR PLASTIC BOTTLE IS ALLOWED IN THE NATATORIUM. NO COFFEE CUPS, YETI, OR STANLEY CUPS ALLOWED IN THE NATATORIUM.
Volunteers:
All volunteers MUST check in at the team check in by 6:45 to receive your tag and wristband. This is what will allow you to be on deck as a volunteer. Please see Sandie for Check In.
1st half volunteers will enter the facility WITH the team. If you are late, you will not be able to enter with the team, and will not be allowed on deck. Please arrive and check in on time!
2nd half volunteers should check in to receive their wristband and tag, then will enter the facility through the spectator door. When it is time for 2nd half volunteers, door monitors will let you on deck for your position. The wristband and tag will serve as your pass on deck.
WE STILL NEED A FEW VOLUNTEERS! PLEASE LOG IN AND SIGN UP IF YOU CAN. If not all league spots are filled, I will have to reassign from our team spots, which will take away our team supervision on deck. We don't want that to happen! Please sign up to help! As usual, I will send each volunteer a separate email with all of the details of your position.
LEAVING EARLY:
If you would like to leave at the end of your child's events, please send a message on REMIND, and a coach or myself can meet you in the atrium with your child. Again, Parents will NOT be allowed on deck to get theri child.
Thank you for your support and for helping make this the BEST meet of the season! See you all early in the morning!
Go Sea Dragons!
-Sandie
